Pathogen
The short film Pathogen is a science fiction thriller that will have audiences on the edge of their seats begging to see more. The story centers around two doctors (Malcolm and Rogers) as they are tasked with trying to come up with a cure for the first disease outbreak in the last 25 years. Following the end of a third world war humans have gotten rid of disease as it is known in the modern day or so they think. Eradicating all bacteria these people live in a completely sterile environment with no interaction of the destroyed world around them. This creates a perfect breeding ground for nature to take it’s course and rid the earth of it’s true ailment. This thriller stars Tom hardy, Daniel Craig, and Rachel McCadams in roles that are out of their ordinary comfort zone. While Craig most well known for his roles as James Bond plays a much more even toned disease outbreak specialist sidekicked by McCadams who plays a nurturing Doctor Rogers. The film is fast paced giving the feeling of more explanation needed at times it is still the thriller of the summer. It is a perfect blend of a constant dark undertone with the wild ride of a questionable but very possible future world. Excellent acting will carry most of the emotion of this movie there will be tears and laughs as the audience is submersed into the end of the world as they know it. Opting for a more classical musical score the grand scenes and emotions of the characters are portrayed through the music. John Williams writing the bulk of the music gets to show his dark side and displays deep tones mixing fittingly with the dark genre created. This film will leave viewers with more questions than answers adding to the fun of speculation and debate about the current scientific research being conducted.
