The Million Dollar Dream

The Million Dollar Dream is based upon a teenagers luck of becoming a millionaire unbeknownst to him just before graduation. The main character Harlan is a skinny nerdy boy that is not so popular. He is teased and made fun of due to the way he acts and dresses. Once Harlan becomes a millionaire peoples perceptions of the nerdy boy change. Everyone wants to be Harlans friend due to the money and superficial objects such as a black porsche. Harlan is doubted by his father in the beginning of the story. He tells Harlan that he has an awful work ethic and is making a joke of the family name.  Once Harlan becomes a millionaire his father ceases to pester him. Harlan applies to multiple schools but gets rejected from them all. Once Harlan becomes a millionaire he applies to Harvard and is admitted. As the story progresses events begin to seem unreal, eventually leading to Harlan waking from his sleep in a cold sweat. In the end It was all a dream. The Million dollar Dream is  philosophical yet witty and comedic. The million Dollar Dream is for the dreamers that go against the status quo, and the ones that turn the other cheek when adversity is thrown at them.

  1. The film perfectly show the dream state of a boy who wishes to become popular. Abe shows this by the end when Harlen wakes up from him slumber

  19. Although no intentions were hit, the screenplay was very well done. The fact that intentions were not hit allowed the story to flow much better in my opinion. this allowed the writer to really let their thoughts flow without having specific restrictions or goals.
