Dream Job by Claire Vreeland

Cast:
Rose- Emma Stone
Patrick- Ryan Reynolds
Rick- Ben Affleck
Ashley- Vanessa Hudgens

Netflix Summary
Some people get tired of typical romantic-comedies but this Dream Job is going to change people's perspective on that. In this romantic comedy, the main character, Rose has the job she has always wanted. She gets to travel the world, journaling her experiences and memories through a travel agency. Along the way she travels with a couple who exploits their relationship in front of her. She describes herself as a "third-wheel" and she wishes to change it. She wants a man to spend her time with. They travel to amazing tropical islands and beaches and rose gets upset when she realizes how many honeymooners there are which makes her very anxious. They travel to Greece where Ashley and Rick spend time together and they travel to Paris, the love capital of the world. Fate helps Rose out when she meets a man named Patrick who works for the same agency, and has the same itinerary as Rose and her friends. Before the audience is even aware, they are dating in Paris and five years later they go back for their anniversary.
Because of the interesting mix of actors and actresses portraying the main characters, the plot does not get boring. Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds are known for romantic comedies like Easy-A and The Notebook. Vanessa Hudgens will forever be known for High School Musical. And Ben Affleck is known for his amazing work in Good Will Hunting. Because of the mix in works these actors and actresses have done, this movie is going to be well-rounded and provide a lot of variety. Emma Stone and Ryan Reynold starred in La-La-Land together which was another romantic-comedy that changed people's outlooks. Although people think that romantic-comedies are typically all the same, there are many that open people's eyes. Dream Job is definitely one to change perspective.

  1. Claire achieved her goal #2 of creating a typical happy ending by having Patrick and Rose end up out on a romantic date, resolving her issue of being a third wheel, and by showing them later being married, showing how they found true love.

  2. The ending produced a typical happy ending like your intention described. Having a future shot of five years later shows that their relationship didn't just end after their date in Paris.

  3. Sarah: Thought it was clear that the main characters were empathetic towards one another, by showing in the end of the screenplay how they were on the same date 5 years later. That scene also involved the typical happy ending that most romcom's create.

  4. Abe Ancis: The ending has a very positive outlook towards love in a refreshing yet classic way. The story shows how love can stand the test of time. For example the story cuts 5 years into the future, Patrick and Rose are sitting at the same restaurant table and sipping the same reds wine.

  5. Michael: Claire achieved her goal #3 by having the setting in Bermuda which is a very romantic country. The ending was very heart warming and enjoyed reading the future shot about how they still stayed in love.

  10. Goal 1 was achieved because I felt bad for the main character. I could feel her sadness as she often felt alone while traveling with the couple.
