Juliana Oelkers 1/4/17

In the beginning of class today we got our computers and sat with our podcast groups. Mr. Rivers started off class by telling us the objectives of the day and the plan for the rest of the week. One objective was to be able to record a podcast that analyzes evidence and establishes goals based on previous reflection. Another objective was to apply revision and other editing skills to make improvements to critical reviews. Then he also told us that the new password for the blog is "oldsport" and we all got to work on our objectives.

My group decided to work on our Feast reviews. Feast is a short Disney film about a dog and his love for food. Over the past few weeks we have been working on a movie review as a class together, but before we hand it in each of us have the opportunity to revise it. Editing the review was a lot harder than a normal paper. Since it was written by the whole class, there were a lot of errors and different types of writing styles. Instead of deleting whatever we didn't want in the review, we had to slash it out. Also anything that we added to it was not highlighted, like everything else in the review. One question that I had about the revising process was how much of the ending we should reveal in our review. Mr. Rivers helped by telling me that since its just a short kids movie its okay if the review has the ending in it, unlike a really popular movie, like the new Star Wars.

Other groups worked on their pre production page, recorded their podcasts, or also revised the class review. Here is a picture from Feast to give you an idea of what the movie is like. That's what we did today in class.
